Bleach: Memories in the Rain
Synopsis
This is the first Bleach OVA. It aired at the Jump Festa 2004 Anime Tour and was later released on DVD. This is a pilot episode for the series, a special version of episodes 8-9, and was made before the anime premiered in Japan. Kurosaki Ichigo, the temporary Shinigami (Death God) for Kuchiki Rukia, discovers his mother's killer as one of the Hollows he has been hunting. He does battle with it in a prideful battle of revenge.
Audience Consensus
Audience reception is mixed. Some appreciate the improved production quality and tighter storytelling, finding it a worthwhile alternative to the original episodes. However, others view it as redundant, offering little new content and feeling like a rehash of already seen material. The OVA is generally considered a decent but ultimately inessential addition to the Bleach series.
