Audience Consensus

The short movie is generally well-received, especially by fans of the original series, as a fun and quick revisit of familiar characters and jokes. While some appreciate the improved animation, others find it unnecessary or prefer the original's style. Its main drawback is its short length and lack of new content, making it more of a supplementary piece than a standalone work.

Strengths

  • Improved animation quality compared to the original series.
  • Faithful representation of characters and humor from the original series.
  • Enjoyable and a good introduction to the Azumanga Daioh series.

Weaknesses

  • Reuses jokes and scenarios from the main series, lacking originality.
  • Short length makes it feel incomplete and unsatisfying.
  • Some find the art style less appealing than the original series' simplicity.
