Synopsis — from MyAnimeList
"I have a duty to see everything that happens. No matter how much pain and sadness there is... Because I am Spearhead's handler." 86 Special Edition: Senya ni Akaku Hinageshi no Saku recaps the story told in 86 through the perspective of Vladilena "Lena" Milizé—the commander of Shinei Nouzen and the Spearhead Squadron.
Audience Consensus
This special episode is widely seen as a pure recap, serving as a useful refresher for those who need to remember details before the next season. However, for viewers who have recently watched the main series, it's considered a redundant and forgettable experience with little new content.
Strengths
- Well-edited recap
- Utilizes the show's score well
- Maintains the high technical quality (direction, soundtrack, animation) of the main series
Weaknesses
- Completely empty episode / just a summary
- Waste of time for those who recently watched the anime
- Glossed over character moments due to restricted runtime
- Too many recaps for the franchise, leading to forgettable content
