Synopsis — from MyAnimeList

Under the doctrines of Quirk Doomsday Theory, the ideological group Humarise is convinced that all humans with quirks are diseased and must be eradicated. In order to rebuild the world, the group's extremists have constructed a lethal device known as a "Trigger Bomb" that causes people with quirks to lose control and die. Their leader, Flect Turn, evades capture from the Pro Heroes deployed around the world. During his work study in the country of Otheon with Japan's number one Pro Hero, Izuku "Deku" Midoriya is accused of a crime he did not commit. Unintentionally involving Roddy Soul, a local, Deku soon finds himself on the run with the boy. It is now up to Rody, Deku, and Deku's classmates to stop the Trigger Bomb plot set in motion by Flect, all while eluding the other persistent members of Humarise.

Audience Consensus

Audience opinion is divided, with a significant portion finding the movie to be a disappointing, generic, and poorly written entry in the franchise, despite acknowledging good animation. Others enjoyed it as a fun, action-packed filler movie consistent with the series' quality, particularly praising the new characters. The film is seen by some as a "cash grab" with wasted potential, while others defend it against perceived "trend-hating".

Strengths

  • Visually striking animation and art, particularly during fight scenes.
  • New characters, especially Rody, are likable and offer some humanity.
  • Some enjoyable tropes and comedic moments are present.
  • Good sound design and voice acting, consistent with the series.

Weaknesses

  • Generic, predictable, and uninteresting story with major plot holes.
  • Inconsistent animation quality and noticeable errors, not movie-level.
  • Pacing issues, with many scenes feeling dragged out and boring.
  • Underdeveloped villains and underdeveloped plot points (e.g., eugenics, doomsday cult).
  • Underutilization of the broader cast, with many characters feeling like filler.
  • Characterization issues, with some main characters acting out of character.
  • Deceptive marketing, particularly regarding character outfits and their limited screen time.
