Synopsis — from MyAnimeList
Recap of the first 18 episodes of Sword Art Online: Alicization.
Audience Consensus
The audience largely views this episode as a completely unnecessary and boring recap that disrupts the flow of the main narrative. While acknowledging the high production values (animation, sound) present in the reused footage, the lack of new content or creative effort leads to widespread disappointment and frustration. The episode is seen as a filler, primarily existing to give the production team more time, which is considered a disservice to the viewers.
Strengths
- Art and sound quality remain good (though reused)
- Story in itself is pretty good and more original than the last season
- The chronological drive for this episode makes sense from a storytelling perspective
Weaknesses
- Completely unnecessary recap episode
- Painful and boring to watch
- Does not add anything new or special
- Breaks the rhythm of the work and disrespects weekly viewers
- Recycled content thrown in to fill space with no creative effort
- Dispensable and can be skipped without missing anything
