Audience Consensus
Audience reception is largely positive, especially from fans who appreciate the creative and comedic take on a recap episode. However, there's a notable division between those who see it as an innovative and entertaining special and those who view it as an unnecessary, time-wasting recap of already-seen content.
Strengths
- Creative and humorous approach to a recap episode, making it feel like new content.
- Excellent animation quality and art style consistent with the main series.
- Reigen's characterization and comedic framing are a significant highlight.
- Satisfying announcement of the second season.
- Provides a good refresher for fans who haven't seen the first season in a while.
Weaknesses
- Fundamentally a recap episode, which may feel like a waste of time for those who have recently watched the first season.
- Relies heavily on reused animation and music from the main series.
- The 'gimmick' of Reigen's perspective can become tiresome for some viewers.
- Some viewers found it too long for a recap episode.
