Synopsis

Set in a continent divided into two commonwealths that have been engaged in war for hundreds of years, Allison and Will go on a mission to search "the treasure that will put an end to the war". Their hope is inherited to their daughter Lillia, who strives to thaw the torn nations into a united country. This anime encourages young generations to believe in a world without hatred or war regardless of nationalities and beliefs. (Source: Anime Network)

Audience Consensus

Audience sentiment is mixed. Many appreciate the nostalgic charm, art style, and music, viewing it as a lighthearted adventure. However, the plot's simplicity, inconsistencies, and underdeveloped characters, particularly in the second half, draw criticism. The show is seen as enjoyable for casual viewing but falls short of its potential due to writing flaws.

Strengths

  • Charming retro art designs with detailed costumes, weapons, and vehicles reminiscent of the 1930s-1950s.
  • Catchy and charming music, including a soft-sung opening and ending, with great live orchestral background soundtracks that fit the series atmosphere.
  • Likeable characters, particularly Allison, who spur a sense of adventure and make viewers want to see things turn out happily for them.
  • Enjoyable and relaxing series that stirs up feelings of nostalgia and throwback adventures of a simpler time.

Weaknesses

  • Idiotic plot with irrational character behavior, characters armed to the teeth but fervent pacifists who refuse to shoot, pseudo-violence, and pseudo-tension.
  • Inconsistencies and plot holes, villains with contrived presences, and glaring leaps of logic in the plot that erode the credibility of the stories.
  • Underdeveloped second half (Lillia's tale) where the story lacks direction and characters come off as annoying or cowardly.
  • Characters remain at a distance by refusing to express any adult emotions, characters in love never kiss or hug, and a huge lack of realism due to the use of violence.
