Sengoku Night Blood
Synopsis
After a blinding light emanates from her phone, soft-spoken Yuzuki is suddenly transported to an alternate world known as Shinga. The strange place resembles the Sengoku period—a turbulent time in Japanese history known for long civil wars that ravaged the country. Here, the Gekkazoku, tribes of non-human creatures like vampires and werewolves, live in harmony with humans. This harmony was maintained under the governance of Himemiko, a woman with the power to protect Shinga. However, due to her mysterious disappearance, the world has fallen into disarray. Now, Yuzuki must find Himemiko in order to go back home; but, the ongoing feud between the warlords only impedes her progress. [Written by MAL Rewrite]
Audience Consensus
The anime is largely considered a disappointing adaptation of the otome game, suffering from poor animation, a weak protagonist, and a convoluted plot. While some viewers find enjoyment in the character interactions and romantic elements, the overall consensus is that the show fails to live up to its potential and feels like a blatant advertisement for the source material. Many feel the reverse harem theme is poorly executed, and the historical fantasy elements are underdeveloped.
Strengths
- Some enjoyable character interactions.
- Opening theme song and voice acting are decent.
- Lighting effects enhance romantic scenes at times.
Weaknesses
- Poor animation quality with distorted characters and lazy fight scenes.
- Weak, passive, and useless main character.
- Incoherent plot with underdeveloped characters and unclear motivations.
- Story feels like a shallow commercial for the game.
