Audience Consensus
The audience largely agrees that this OVA offers a refreshing departure from the typical High School DxD formula, focusing on a more coherent story and character development, especially for Riser. While praised for its humor and improved narrative, minor criticisms regarding animation fluidity and the inherent fanservice remain, though these are generally seen as secondary to the overall positive experience.
Strengths
- Actual tangible story and plot progression that deviates from excessive fanservice.
- Strong character development, particularly for Riser, who is recontextualized effectively.
- Good voice acting and sound design that aligns with the series' established quality.
- Humorous character interactions and dialogue that leverage the established cast well.
Weaknesses
- Animation frame rate drops and occasional lack of fluidity detract from the viewing experience.
- Fanservice, while reduced compared to the main series, is still present and may alienate some viewers.
- Art style is considered standard for the franchise and not particularly innovative.
