Audience Consensus
The audience is divided on the special's use of ecchi. While some appreciate it as a light-hearted departure and a core part of the franchise, others find the sexualization of problematic themes, particularly the sibling relationship, to be deeply uncomfortable and exploitative, overshadowing any positive aspects.
Strengths
- Provides a light-hearted breather from the series' usual darker themes.
- Animation is good and production delivers on its goals.
- Fanservice is acknowledged as a core part of the franchise's identity.
Weaknesses
- Sexualization of problematic themes, specifically a sibling relationship, is uncomfortable and exploitative rather than narrative.
- Heavy focus on ecchi overshadows other aspects of the special.
- The execution of sexualizing traumatic situations is considered a poor choice.
