Synopsis — from MyAnimeList
Summary of the first season of the show, as seen from Rikka's perspective with new elements.
Audience Consensus
The audience widely agrees that this movie is primarily a recap of the first season and is largely unnecessary for those who have already seen it. While praised for its high production quality and nostalgic value for existing fans, it is criticized for its lack of new content and failure to serve as a proper introduction for newcomers.
Strengths
- High-quality animation and production values, characteristic of Kyoto Animation
- Enjoyable new opening and ending sequences
- Provides a nostalgic refresher for fans of the first season
- Satisfying character interactions and "unneedingly epic" moments that define the series
Weaknesses
- Primarily a recap of the first season with minimal new plot content
- Does not work as a standalone product or entry point for new viewers
- Lacks the depth and charm of the original series
- The "Rikka's perspective" framing is not effectively realized
