Synopsis

"Tsuki ni Naku" will take the story content from volume 11 of the manga, which features a visit to a onsen by the members of the Hiizumi Life Councelling Office, while the town's police force have to deal with a new youkai-hunter threat. This OVA is bundled with the limited edition of the manga (14th, 15th, and 16th).

Audience Consensus

The OVA is generally well-received, particularly for its character work and action sequences, although some viewers found its placement within the broader series confusing. The strong technical aspects, like sound design, are a plus. There is minor criticism regarding fan service in the initial chapter and a perceived weaker narrative compared to earlier arcs.

Strengths

  • Excellent use of secondary characters
  • Impressive sound design enhancing action scenes
  • Pleasant narrative rhythm

Weaknesses

  • Awkward placement in the overall series chronology
  • The final youkai hunter confrontation felt less grand compared to previous ones
  • First chapter primarily justification for fan service
