Synopsis
After their encounter with Team Plasma, Satoshi, Iris and Dent start a new journey in the Decolora Islands.
Audience Consensus
The Decolora Adventure arc is largely considered a low point in the Pokemon series, with many viewers finding it to be a collection of uninspired filler episodes. While some appreciated the foreshadowing of the Kalos region and the theme music, the overwhelming sentiment is one of disappointment due to inconsistent pacing, lack of character development, and a weak overall plot. Many feel that the series peaked before this arc, and that it ultimately detracts from the Pokemon legacy.
Strengths
- Good theme songs
- Better region portrayal than previous generations (except Johto)
- Tasteful inclusion of Alexa foreshadowing the Kalos region
Weaknesses
- Inconsistent pacing with many filler episodes
- Ash's character is one-dimensional and regresses
- Lack of character development for Iris and Cilan
- Unmemorable gym battles and a pathetic league
- Team Rocket's character shift is a mess
- Team Plasma's potential is wasted
- Predictable and boring plot
