Synopsis

Summer has arrived, and the students of Lillian Girls' Academy are on break! Yumi and Sachiko head out to the Ogasawara family's summer home, but what was supposed to be a relaxing vacation takes a turn for the worse when some of Sachiko's old acquaintances drop by for tea. These rich and snobby debutantes don't think Yumi is worthy of Sachiko's affection and they're out to make this summer one she'll regret. (Source: RightStuf)

Audience Consensus

The third season OVA of Maria-sama ga Miteru is well-received, with many considering it a step up from the previous seasons. The improved animation, deeper character development (especially the central relationship), and refreshing change of scenery are praised. While some find the ending themes unfitting and the episodic nature slightly disjointed, the overall sentiment is positive, making it a must-watch for fans of the series.

Strengths

  • Improved animation quality, especially in later episodes.
  • Deeper exploration and development of the central relationship between Yumi and Sachiko.
  • More varied settings and activities outside of the school environment offer a refreshing change of pace.
  • Strong character development, particularly for Sachiko, who shows a more thoughtful and expressive side.

Weaknesses

  • Ending themes are not always fitting for the tone of the series.
  • Some minor characters feel underdeveloped or unnecessary.
  • Storylines of individual episodes can feel somewhat disconnected, lacking a strong sense of overall continuation.
  • Occasional oddities in character design, such as disproportionately long limbs.
