Synopsis

The stage is the close of the Edo period, an age when, not unlike our own time, both natural and man-made disasters left chaos in their wake. Manjiro makes a living helping the people of the troubled capital city, but behind the scenes, he also works in secret to take back precious belongings stolen from the people by unjust political powers and conspiratorial menaces. The people call him "Get-backer Roman." (Source: Crunchyroll)

Audience Consensus

Audience reception is mixed, with some finding enjoyment in the show's comedic and character-driven aspects, while others criticize its unoriginal story and poor execution. The Lupin III-esque style is a draw for some, but the pachinko game origins create initial skepticism. Ultimately, it doesn't elicit strong polarizing opinions.

Strengths

  • Distinct and exaggerated characters that are endearing
  • Comedic tone with underlying darker themes
  • Art style reminiscent of Lupin III, appealing to fans of Monkey Punch

Weaknesses

  • Unoriginal story, derivative of other shows like Lupin III
  • Poor execution of plot, particularly after the initial episodes
  • Based on a pachinko game, lowering initial expectations
