Synopsis — from MyAnimeList
In 2029, Scrooge escapes from a research facility where he had been confined as an experimental subject. His body was remodeled by genetic manipulations and he uses his psychic power to kill the chasers. One day, he meets another experimental subject called Carol. When three psychic chasers hunt down the two, Carol asks Scrooge to use his right arm to extract a weapon from her body.
Audience Consensus
The audience is split on whether this OVA is a redeeming factor for the Guilty Crown franchise or a confusing, albeit visually appealing, tease. While many praise its improved character dynamics and soundtrack over the original series, its extreme brevity and lack of narrative resolution are significant drawbacks for a large portion of viewers.
Strengths
- Superior characterization and lead personalities compared to the original Guilty Crown series.
- Compelling soundtrack, evoking nostalgia and enhancing key scenes.
- Visually impressive animation and art style, especially in action sequences.
- Offers a more focused and satisfying narrative experience despite its short length.
Weaknesses
- Extremely short runtime (10-15 minutes) leaves many plot threads unresolved and characters underdeveloped.
- Confusing narrative that offers little explanation and raises more questions than it answers.
- Artwork is perceived by some as slightly downgraded or inconsistent compared to the main series.
- The connection to the main Guilty Crown series is tenuous, leading to confusion for those expecting a direct prequel.
