Audience Consensus

Audience reception is mixed, with strong criticisms of the show's originality and character development. Some viewers appreciate the nostalgic charm and tournament arc of the second season, while others find it derivative and annoying. The English dub and certain character names are frequent points of ridicule, leading to a generally negative sentiment despite some redeeming qualities.

Strengths

  • Some found the second season more enjoyable due to its sports/tournament-style format.
  • The show provides a satisfying ending that resolves story points from the first season and brings back older characters.
  • The comedic elements in the Legend Cup season are more sophisticated.

Weaknesses

  • Many find the show generic and unoriginal, heavily borrowing from other monster-collecting anime like Digimon and Pokémon.
  • The main character, Genki, is often described as annoying and stereotypical.
  • The English dubbing, particularly the voice acting and the opening song, is heavily criticized.
  • The villain's name, Moo, is considered silly and unthreatening.
