Audience Consensus

Audience reception is mixed, with many appreciating the series' darker tone, character moments, and music. However, significant criticism is directed towards the declining animation quality, controversial voice actor changes, and rushed pacing. While some find the story engaging and emotional, others feel it falls short of its potential due to underdeveloped villains and plot issues.

Strengths

  • Expands on darker tone and atmosphere established in previous arcs.
  • Characters, especially Kanon and Orphe, have moments to shine.
  • Soundtrack retains its charm and nostalgic feel.
  • Strong character moments and exploration of brotherly love (Ikki and Shun).
  • Interesting world-building based on Greek mythology and Dante's Inferno.

Weaknesses

  • Animation quality declines in later episodes, with reused shots and less fluid movement.
  • Changes in voice actors (seiyuu) were controversial and off-putting to some fans.
  • Pacing feels rushed, and the Underworld setting is not fully explored.
  • Many villains lack charisma and depth.
  • Plot twists sometimes come out of nowhere, lacking foreshadowing.
